The premise of this print is simple and exact: the match has already burned, and what remains is the beginning. A single matchstick stands centered on a warm ivory field, its head charred to ink black, and from that charred tip a thin line of amber smoke rises without interruption and expands into the clean silhouette of a standing figure - arms raised, feet together - rendered entirely in smoke, with no further detail. The transformation is gradual and unambiguous: match becomes smoke, smoke becomes person. Executed in three colours only - deep charcoal, warm ivory, amber - the composition uses almost nothing to say something immediate and specific about what survives burning. In a dark-toned interior the print reads as a quiet declaration; at full scale the amber smoke-figure commands the wall.
